(SALEM) - The Mid-Southern Small Farm Ag Summit will be Nov. 9 and 10 at the Southern Hills Church, State Road 135 south of Salem.
The Nov. 9 schedule includes registration, breakout sessions and a trip to Cornucopia Farm for a tour and a farm-to-fork dinner.
Following more registration and breakout sessions Nov. 10, Markie Hageman, from Lucas Oil Protect the Harvest, will discuss, "Why do I need to be an Ag Advocate." A second keynote speaker will be Ken Yeager, former Ag Liason for U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly will speak on "Ag Policy updates and outlook impacting the small farm." Then Ruth Hackman, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service District conservationist, will discuss "Funding opportunities for the small farmer."
Participants are encouraged to attend both days, but one-day registration is available. A catered meal on Friday night will be provided at Cornucopia Farms. On Saturday, there will be a light breakfast and lunch, as well as snacks between sessions provided.
Registration by Nov. 2 is $25 for one day or $30 for both days. Late registration will be $40 for one or both days.
