(BLOOMINGTON) - A nurses aide was arrested Friday night after she allegedly slapped an 83-year-old female resident at Golden Living Center in Bloomington.
Police arrested 21-year-old Darian Lanfair after a nurse reported seeing the female aide slap the woman across the right side of the resident's face. The victim suffered from dementia and cognitive disabilities.
The nurse told police the woman's roommate confirmed the incident.
The nurse escorted Lanfair from the patient's room and ordered her to leave the facility.
When police arrived at the scene around 10 p.m., Lanfair returned to the facility. She denied slapping the resident saying the resident attempted to bite her finger and she pulled back her hand quickly.
When told the nurse and the roommate had witnessed the incident, Lanfair didn't have a response.
Bloomington Police Department Lt. Ryan Pedigo says the resident had no visible injuries on her face.
Lanfair, of Martinsville, was arrested on a felony charge of battery on an endangered adult.
