(SALEM) - An Anderson man was arrested after Indiana State Police find a large amount of marijuana during a traffic stop on State Road 56, west of Salem on Friday morning.
Master Trooper Barry Brown was patrolling State Road 56 and stopped the driver of a blue Dodge pickup for speeding.
The driver William Donald Cook of Anderson told Trooper Brown he was headed to Salem to spend the weekend with a friend.
Trooper Brown, a member of the Sellersburg Post All Crimes Policing squad, was working in conjunction with members of the Washington County Drug Task Force and Deputy Paul Gikins and his K9 partner Leni.
Deputy Gikins arrived a short time and deployed Leni who gave a positive alert for the odor of narcotics in the vehicle.
Officers searched the vehicle and found more than a pound of processed marijuana in a large vacuumed sealed pouch.
Cook was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana and was taken to the Washington County Jail.
