(SHOALS) - A Shoals man was arrested after police attempted to serve an arrest warrant that resulted in a foot pursuit.
At 12:30 p.m., on Thursday, Martin County Sheriff Travis Roush arrived at a residence to serve an Orange County warrant, for methamphetamine offenses, on 41-year-old Michael Allen Sluder of Shoals.
Sluder was working under his vehicle when the Sheriff pulled into the driveway.
Initially, Sluder acted without suspicion until Sheriff Roush informed him of the warrant and was preparing to handcuff and search Sluder.
At that time, Sluder took off, sprinting East on Stiles Road towards U.S. 50.
Sheriff Roush pursued on foot for nearly a quarter mile before Sluder entered the woods.
Shortly thereafter, the sheriff apprehended Sluder as he was crossing a stream.
Sheriff Roush found a crystal substance in Sluder's pocket. The substance tested positive for meth.
Sheriff Roush advised dispatch that Sluder was in custody, and then learned that Holly Sluder, who was also at the home, was also wanted on an Orange County Felony Warrant.
Captain Tony Dant arrived at the home and arrested 34-year-old Holly Sluder and transported her to the Orange County Jail.
Michael Sluder was transported to the Martin County Jail on charges of possession of meth, resisting law enforcement.
