The Little Red Porch won the Downtown Development Week window decorating contest hosted by Bedford Revitalization, Inc (BRI). Ten downtown businesses entered the contest which was judged by Quinn O’Sullivan of Spaeth Designs out of New York. O’Sullivan designs windows for Macy’s.
In picking Little Red Porch as the winner of the ten entries submitted O'Sullivan noted, "The Little Red Porch is my choice for winner. The reasons I like this the most: 1) composition was good. They divided up the window in a way that worked with the scale of the pumpkins. 2) I'm a sucker for handmade/painted details (our customers don't let us get away from putting a bunch of stuff we bought at Michael's into the windows). 3) the lighting was effective and added quite a lot." He noted he also really liked Atrium Dental's window and thanked BRI for allowing him to judge the contest.
BRI asked contestants to submit photos of their windows then submitted them to O'Sullivan. Little Red Porch is on the west side of the square in the building earlier occupied by Ballpark Heroes. It will be opening soon and will be a combination retail and studio space. Though eventually, the business will be open 9-5 Monday through Saturday, it will start out open only at specified times.
Little Red Porch received a traveling trophy and $100 cash prize. BRI encourages people to visit the courthouse square to view this and the other windows that were decorated for the contest.
