(NEEDMORE) - A Bedford man was arrested after police say he held a woman against her will.
Early Monday morning Lawrence County deputies arrested Jeremy Giddens on charges of criminal confinement with a deadly weapon and intimidation.
Deputies were called to the 900 block of North Pike Road just before 5 a.m. to do a welfare check on a woman.
According to Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, when the deputy arrived he could see Giddens through a window.
"The officer knocked several times and no one would answer the door," Shoults says. "Dispatch then received a 911 call from a female inside the home saying Giddens was in another room and possibly in possession of a loaded crossbow."
The female was able to flee the home and run to the deputy.
Deputies entered the home and found and detained Giddens
During the investigation, officers learned Giddens allegedly pointed the loaded crossbow and a handgun at the female saying he was going to kill her.
The female told police Giddens had confined her to a room and would not let her answer the door when the deputy arrived.
