(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after Bedford Police were called to 511 J Street about an overdose Thursday night.
When police arrived at 6:13 p.m. they were met by 20-year-old Nolan Furlow at the door.
"Mr. Furlow opened the door and after being told why they were there Furlow refused to let them in to help," says Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore. "Officer entered the residence and Mr. Furlow pushed one of the officers with both his hands."
Officers had to forcibly place Furlow in handcuffs and waited for an ambulance to respond to make sure Furlow was medical okay after finding out he was the person who had allegedly overdosed.
After being medically cleared, Furlow was arrested on charges of illegal consumption, battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
"Mr. Furlow continued with his abusive behavior while being transported and managed to get his handcuffs in front of his body causing the transporting officer to have to pull over and place the cuffs back behind Mr. Furlow's back," says Chief Moore.
