(BEDFORD) - Nathanial Chadwell “Chad” Thompson is one of only 4 percent who entered scouting to earn the distinguished ranking of Eagle Scout.
His Court of Honor is set for Sunday, November 18th at 2 p.m. in the cafeteria at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
Chad was 6-years-old when he entered scouts as a Tiger Cub.
"Throughout his cub scout experience he got to do some pretty cool campouts to include spending the night in a cave, the President Lincoln encampment down at Lincoln boyhood home, several Council and District camporees, Pinewood Derby races and soapbox derby races," says his mother Stefanie Thompson.
Chad earned the Arrow of Light when crossing over into Boy Scout Troop 121 out of Bloomington.
He continued to thrive, earning 42 merit badges, determined to reach a goal he set when entering scouting.
He attended the first national Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel, West Virginia in 2013 as a Star Scout.
In 2017 he returned to the National Scout Jamboree but this time as a staff member playing in the Jamboree band.
"He got to play with some pretty amazing Scouts from all over the country," his mother added. "While in scouting he became very active in band at the middle school level."

Chad plays trumpet for the BNL Marching Stars. That helped with his decision to build new uniform boxes for the BNL Marching Stars as his Eagle Scout project.
He completed the project, all of the Eagle required Merit badges, his Scoutmaster Conference and then passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review - earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
"My favorite memory of my son as a Scout is the day he earned his Tiger Cub badge when we went back to our table and sat down he looked at me and asked what was the highest badge he can earn in scouting," she added. "I told him the highest he could go was Eagle Scout. He looked at me and grinned, that famous toothless grin, and said that's what I'm going to be, I'm going to be an Eagle Scout."
Chad accomplished that dream on October 30, 2018.
