(JASPER) - The Dubois County Museum opens their Christmas holiday season on Thursday, November 15, with the opening of the annual Festival of Trees.
Admission to the museum is free this night. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the viewing of eleven specially decorated Christmas trees for the festival. The museum is located at 2704 N Newton St, in Jasper.
Decorating the trees this year are Memorial Hospital Post-Acute Care, Connie Himsel and Julie Paar, George and Patty Hasenour Family, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Beta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers' Sorority, Brookside Village, St. Anthony American Legion Auxiliary, Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Dubois County Retired Teachers Association, Scenic Hills Care Center, and Holland Events Committee.
They will be decorating the trees with bright red, white and blue colors around the theme Americana/God Bless America. At 6 p.m. there will be a program featuring the St. Joe's Bell Choir from Jasper and a Neja Shah will speak about the customs of India. Ms. Shad grew up in India, but has lived in Jasper for the past several years.
Refreshments and prize drawings will follow the program.
The museum will have these trees, as well as, twenty more decorated trees on display around the museum over the holiday season beginning November 15 and running through January 6, 2019. On display will also be parts of the 1,000 piece collection of Santa figurines donated to the museum from Kay Smock. Each year the museum volunteers try to display the collection in a different grouping and location. Some items have been added this year that have not been displayed before.
