(SALEM) - Jerry Lee Carson, Jr., appeared before Judge Larry Medlock this morning on charges of obstruction of justice and failure to report a dead body.
If convicted on those charges he could face a charge of being found guilty of being a habitual offender.
The state cited three past charges:
Carson was arrested after the disappearance of 22-year-old Jacob Dodson. He was reported missing on Friday morning by his mother. He was last seen on Oct. 20th in Washington County.
His family is looking for answers to what happened to their son.
During their search for Jacob, officers located and questioned 47-year-old Jerry Lee Carson Jr., of Vallonia, who was a friend of Jacob.
After speaking to Carson ISP detectives arrested him. He is being held in the Washington County Jail currently on a $4,000 cash bond.
Officers then obtained a search warrant to search property located at 4031 Wheeler Hollow Road in Vallonia which is owned by Carson.
While searching the property, officers located a body in a duffel style bag stuffed under an abandoned mobile home. The body was later identified to be Jacob.
An autopsy showed no signs of trauma to Jacob's body. Officials are currently waiting for the results of toxicology reports.
