Lawrence County Sheriff's Department Results From Drug Take Back Month

Last updated on Tuesday, November 20, 2018

(BEDFORD) - As a result of the latest Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, “Drug Take Back Month” (Oct/Nov 2018), 97 pounds of unwanted, unused, and expired medication, along with other drugs were destroyed safely.

Detective Sergeant Tyler Phillips says instead of publishing the results for one day, he published the results for one month.

"Since our bin is a permanent fixture, I referred to it as a 'Drug Take Back Month,'". Detective Sergeant Phillips added. "Thanks to a community partnership with the White River Cremation Center, these dangerous drugs were kept off the street and out of the hands of those who abuse them."

Residents can drop off their unwanted medications every day, 24 hours a day.

"It is free and easy to use, with no questions asked," Phillips added. "It is located in the upper lobby, next to the display case in the upper lobby. (1420 I Street Bedford, IN)."

If anyone has questions regarding the drug take-back program or is unable to make it in due to health reasons and needs their unwanted medications picked up, feel free to call Detective Sgt. Tyler Phillips or Detective Riley Hitchcock at (812) 277-2012.

"We can try to arrange a convenient pickup," Detective Sergeant Phillips added.
