Lit Cigarette Thrown From Vehicle Results In Several Felony Charges

(ELLETTSVILLE) - Early Sunday morning an off-duty Trooper Kyle Hall, observed a white Ford passenger car traveling westbound on State Road 46 near Red Hill Road.

While observing the vehicle, one of the occupants threw out a lit cigarette. After initiating a traffic stop and identifying the occupants of the vehicle, it was discovered the driver had a suspended driver's license and both passengers were wanted on warrants through Monroe County.

Troopers discovered 22 syringes inside the vehicle. After being transported to the Monroe County Jail, it was also discovered that both passengers, Keith Leighton, and Christina Hale had meth concealed on their person.

Police arrested 26-year-old Leighton on probation warrants of possession of a controlled substance, possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe and two counts of trafficking with an inmate and 29-year-year old Hale on probation warrants, possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe, false identity statement and false informing.

Assisting were Trooper Gabe Bault, Ellettsville Police Department, the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, and Monroe County Jail Officers.
