(SHOALS) - A Mitchell man was lost his life in a single-vehicle cares on US 50, west of Deep Cut Lake Road Tuesday afternoon.
According to Martin County Sheriff deputies, at approximately 2:49 p.m., 78-year-old Leonard Bex was traveling east on US 50 when for an unknown reason he drove his 2004 Chevrolet S-10 off the south side of the roadway and struck a tree head-on.
Bex was pronounced dead at the scene by Martin County Coroner Tina Franklin.
US 50 was closed or limited to one lane of traffic for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated.
Assisting at the scene were investigating Martin County Sergeant Keith Keller, Captain Tony Dant, and Sheriff Travis Roush, Indiana State Police Trooper Andrew Beaver, Indiana Conservation Officer Eric Doane, Martin County EMS, Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, and KRB Towing.
