(WASHINGTON) - Washington Mayor Joe Wellman says he will not seek a third term.
In a press release handed to the city council on Monday night Mayor Wellman says with the help of some very capable department heads and city employees and the support of the city council and Clerk-Treasurers past and present, wonderful things have been accomplished.
He says he intends to continue working hard for the city until the end of his term in December of next year.
Wellman added that he retired from a 35-year banking career 10 years ago and will have served Washington as Mayor for 8 years by this time next year. He is looking forward to spending time with family and on his hobbies and plans to do some traveling.
