(VINCENNES) - The 11th annual National Watermelon Drop will start at 10 p.m. tonight at Patrick Henry Square in downtown Vincennes.
Officials say 19 watermelons will be dropped from a giant 500-pound watermelon hoisted into the sky on a crane.
After the watermelons drop, fireworks will be set off, marking the start of 2019.
Other highlights include heated tents, a DJ, hot drinks, and chili. An entertainment tent will be located near the splatform where the watermelons will be dropped.
Over the years, the National Watermelon Drop has received national and international acclaim as one of America's most unique New Year's Eve festivals. It has also been featured nationally on CNN and CBS.
