Inmate Overdoses At Jail

(BEDFORD) - Shortly after an inmate was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on Monday, he overdosed.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham, the man was brought to the jail after being arrested by another law enforcement agency.

His condition began to deteriorate soon after being processed into the jail, Sheriff Branham added.

An ambulance was alerted at 9:52 p.m. and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment and then released on his own recognizance.

"He was not in a healthy condition to be at the jail," Sheriff Branham added.
