(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after a domestic fight in the 3900 block of Old State Road 37 Wednesday morning.
Lawrence County Sheriff deputies were alerted to the dispute at 7:18 a.m.
According to Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, a verbal dispute had turned physical.
"While officers were responding the male (24-year-old Jeffery Staggs) left the scene in a vehicle with a child," Chief Deputy Shoults says.
Deputies spoke with the female victim who told police she had been battered by Staggs Wednesday morning and a few days prior.
"Officers witnessed bruising to one of her arms." Chief Deputy Shoults. "At this point information came in that Staggs was parked at the Harrodsburg Post Office with the child."
Officers went to the post office and located Staggs.
"Based upon the investigation and the allegation of domestic battery, Staggs was arrested and taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lawrence County Jail," Chief Deputy Shoults added. "The child was released to the victim."
Staggs is facing a charge of domestic battery.
