When firefighters arrived about 50 percent of the trailer was engulfed in flames, says Salem Fire Department Captain Roger Pennington.
The owners, Sandra Taylor and Annette Givan, had escaped the burning home, but their pets were still inside.
One cat managed to escape, but a dog and another cat perished in the blaze.
The firefighters spent about 20 minutes and more than 5,000 gallons to put out the fire.
Pennington says it was an electrical fire and it started in a common area of the trailer and then spread to an addition adjacent to the carport and then the rest of the mobile home. The trailer is a total loss.
The women did not have insurance, and the Red Cross came to their assistance.
