(UNDATED) - Many Indiana families struggle to keep their homes warm during the winter as their utility bills increase.
Hoosiers should know about state programs to help them brace for the cold.
Indiana 2-1-1 is a hotline that serves each of Indiana's 92 counties and helps point people to resources specific to their needs.
By simply dialing 2-1-1, Hoosiers can get assistance with food insecurity, access to healthcare, veteran's services, career services and even emergency assistance for abusive relationships and suicidal thoughts.
Those feeling a financial strain this winter may be eligible for grants, homeowner loans, transitional housing or help for the elderly living alone.
