(GREENWOOD) - A 52-year-old Jackson County man died Wednesday morning after the vehicle he was driving struck the rear end of a semitrailer stopped in traffic backed up on Interstate 65 near the Greenwood exit.
According to an Indiana State Police report, Tracy Bullard of Seymour died at the scene despite lifesaving efforts of medical crews.
ISP Sgt. John Perrine says Bullard's 2015 Chevrolet struck the rear end of a semitrailer driven by Robert Coleman of Pennsylvania. Coleman was not injured in the crash, reported at about 7:35 a.m.
The force of the impact caused the car to go underneath the back of the semitrailer, which was stopped due to a lengthy traffic backup.
The crash scene was cleared just after 10 a.m. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
