(MONROE CO.) - Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor for a $1,758,000 bridge replacement project on State Road 46 in Salt Creek Township of Monroe County - between Bloomington and the Brown County line - plans to initiate operations this week.
CLR crews are scheduled to mobilize, weather permitting, to begin building a runaround and temporary bridge for maintenance of State Road 46 traffic during 2019 demolition and construction operations. The Vincennes-based contractor is charged with constructing a 96-foot-long single-span concrete bulb-T beam bridge with clear roadway of 36.3 feet side-to-side on State Road 46 over Brummett Creek. The site is located 4.45 miles east of State Road 446.
INDOT officials anticipate that bridge work will continue through October 2019.
During construction, traffic will be routed via a roundabout on the north side of the highway across a 36-foot-wide temporary bridge. Kent Road on the south side of State Road 46 adjacent to Brummett Creek will close. The road's approach will be realigned.
A wetland area, residents will be given access to Kent Road if flooding conditions exist.
