(ROCKFORD) - Jackson County Sheriff’s Department discovered and pulled a stolen vehicle from the East Fork of White River on Thursday night.
A wrecker pulled the gray 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche owned by Danielle Brown of Seymour from about six feet of water.
Deputies were alerted to the vehicle in the river at 8:28 p.m. by a woman who saw the lights of the vehicle in the water as it was sinking in the river in the 8900 block of North County Road 160 East near Rockford.
Sheriff Mike Carothers says the vehicle had been driven off of the boat ramp near the Rockford Bridge. It had submerged north of the at the low-head dam that spans the river at Indiana American Water Company.
Carothers said the water was at the roof of the vehicle when police arrived.
