(LOOGOOTEE) - A traffic stop on Monday landed a Loogootee woman behind bars.
At 8:54 p.m., Martin County Sheriff's Department Deputy Tyler Reed was on patrol on US Highway 50, east of Loogootee when he noticed a vehicle commit a moving violation and initiated a traffic stop. Loogootee Police Department Sgt. Rick Norris assisted.
The driver, 42-year-old Shirley Coker of Loogootee, gave the officers permission to search her vehicle.
The officers found a glass pipe with burnt residue inside. That residue tested positive for meth. They then located a second pipe and two rolled marijuana cigarettes.
Coker then told the officers she had more drugs in her pocket. In her pocket, she had a plastic baggie that contained several different pills and a clear capsule that contained crystal meth.
Coker was arrested on charges of possession of meth, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
