(WASHINGTON) - A 4-year-old Loogootee child died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday.
Washington Police say the accident remains under investigation.
Officers were called to the intersection of East National Highway and Southeast Seventh Street at 5:39 p.m. after a report of a car striking a child.
According to police 62-year-old Karla Orender of Washington was traveling west on East National Highway just past Southeast Seventh Street in a 2016 Kia Rio when 4-year-old Oaklee Carlisle of Loogootee ran into the roadway.
Orender's vehicle hit the child with the vehicle's front driver's side bumper and then dragged the child 60 feet before stopping.
Oaklee died after suffering severe head injuries.
