BEDFORD—An extraordinary invitation by Bob Knight to the BNL basketball coaches materialized into a memorable learning experience for his guests.
Naturally, everyone fully understands that it was Coach Knight's interest in Damon Bailey's current coaching position that was the nucleus of the trip.
Over three days Damon, D.J. Horton, Jason Speer and Jamie Hudson observed the Texas Tech practices, Knight's coaching techniques, watched films with the team as the coaches cut and broke down the plays, then topped off their long days by going out with Knight for Mexican or Chinese food.
Wouldn't you think Sports Illustrated would pick up on the event and inform their readers about the bond Bobby Knight has with former players, in particular Bedford's very own former Sports Illustrated cover-boy, Damon Bailey?
