(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor Daniels left for Miami Thursday night to combine business with Super Bowl pleasure.
Daniels and three of his four daughters have tickets for Sunday's game, but the governor will also be trying to talk up Indiana to business executives in town for the festivities. He'll also assist Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson in trying to drum up support for Indy's bid to host Super Bowl XLV in 2011.
Daniels acknowledges this is a more speculative trip than past trade missions. Unlike trips to Asia the past two years, he won't be cementing ties with companies already doing business in Indiana, but trying to make Indiana's case to whatever companies are available to talk to.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has thrown together a Saturday night reception in Coconut Grove to chat up businesses, and is still trying to set up some one-on-one meetings for Daniels there.
