(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University has extended the contract of Athletic Director Rick Greenspan.
The extension will keep Greenspan in Bloomington through September of 2013. His present deal was set to expire in June 2009.
Greenspan's base salary will increase from $275,000 dollars to $300,000 dollars with deferred compensation going from $30,000 to $60,000 dollars. The new deal takes effect on July 1st.
Outgoing university President Adam Herbert says Greenspan has provided stability and instituted improvements to the athletic department in his three years as athletic director. Since taking over the program in September 2004, Greenspan has hired several new coaches, including those in the major sports of football, men's and women's basketball, baseball and soccer.
He has also been heavily involved in the planned renovations to memorial stadium and the addition of a new basketball practice facility. Those projects will cost $55-million dollars.
