(NASHVILLE, TN) - The Indianapolis Colts have lost a key defender to a division rival.
The Tennessean of Nashville reports that the Tennessee Titans have agreed to a multiyear deal with free agent defensive back Nick Harper. The 32-year-old Harper spent six seasons with the Colts, registering 15 interceptions.
He became a starter in 2003 and was on the field to begin 57 of the 64 regular season games on the Colts' schedule during that time.
Harper is the second player the Colts have lost to free agency in a week. Running back Dominic Rhodes signed with the Oakland Raiders last week.
It also marks the second-straight year that the titans have plucked a defensive free agent from the Colts. Tennessee signed linebacker David Thornton after the 2005 season.
