(SACRAMENTO, CA) - Roderick Wilmont scored 22 points and DJ white added a double-double as the Indiana Hoosiers defeated Gonzaga 70-57 in the first round of NCAA tournament.
Wilmont hit six of the Hoosiers' nine three-pointers while white had 16 points and eleven rebounds and Earl Calloway added eleven points.
The Bulldogs kept the game close in the first half before the Hoosiers pulled away. David Pendergraft and Derek Raivio led the Zags with twelve points with Sean Mallon adding eleven.
The Hoosiers advance to the second round where they will meet number-two seed UCLA Saturday night in Sacramento.
Purdue begins its march in the NCAA tournament tonight when the ninth-seeded Boilermakers face number-eight seed Arizona. The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame open their NCAA tournament run this afternoon as they face Big South champion Winthrop in Spokane.
