(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indianapolis North Central Guard Eric Gordon is Indiana’s “Mr. Basketball” for 2007.
The six-foot four-inch guard, who will play collegiately for Kelvin Sampson at Indiana, garnered 216 of the 237 votes cast according to The Indianapolis Star, which sponsors the annual award. East Chicago Central's E'twaun Moore was second with eleven votes. Moore will play for Matt Painter and Purdue this fall.
Gordon received 91-percent of the votes cast, the third-highest percentage since the Star began releasing vote totals in 1988. Damon bailey of Bedford North Lawrence received more than 95-percent of the vote in 1990 while Greg Oden of Lawrence North collected 91-point-five percent of last year's ballots.
Gordon and Moore will headline the Indiana All-Stars when they face the Kentucky All-Stars in June. Joining Gordon and Moore on the all-star team are Michael Bizoukas of Munster, Nate Blank of Terre Haute North, Ben Botts of Muncie Central, Bryan Bouchie of Washington, Zach Hahn of New Castle, Clint Hopf of Forest Park, Matt Howard of Connersville, Rob Hummel of Valparaiso, Jajuan Johnson of Franklin Central, Eshaunte Jones of Fort Wayne North, Scott Martin of Valparaiso and Jeff Teague of Indianapolis Pike.
