(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - John Van Benschoten threw seven shutout innings as the Indianapolis Indians blanked the Syracuse Chiefs 3-0.
Van Benschoten allowed four hits and three walks while striking out six to even his record at 2-and-2.
Russ Johnson and Yurendell De Caster had RBI singles and De Caster would score the Indians' final run on a wild pitch.
Game two of the four-game series is this evening at Victory Field.
