(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings underwent successful surgery on her injured right achilles tendon on Wednesday.
Catchings suffered a complete tear of the tendon late in the first half of the Fever's loss to the Detroit Shock on Monday at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Her anticipated recovery time will be between six and nine months.
Catchings was named to the all-WNBA second team on Wednesday. She finished fourth in the MVP balloting to Seattle's Lauren Jackson.
Catchings averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and almost five assists per game. She led the WNBA in steals at more than three per contest.
Her MVP chances were diminished when she injured her left foot on July 20th against Detroit and missed the final month of the regular season.
