(MUNCIE) - Ball State’s athletic program faces some harsh penalties in connection with its textbook loan program for athletes and rules transgressions by its former softball coach.
The NCAA placed Ball State on probation for two years -- starting Tuesday and ending on October 15th 2009. The school was also cited for a lack of institutional control.
Scholarships were taken away from the football and men's tennis teams and penalties were given to the softball program.
