(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Pacers opened the 2007-2008 pre-season Wednesday night with a 101-to-96 win over the New Orleans Hornets at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The win added to the Pacers new look under new head coach Jim O'Brien.
The hometeam took control of the ball game and only trailed once in 48 minutes. The third quarter saw the Pacers largest lead at 21.
The final period saw the Hornets charge back into the pre-season ball game, but Indiana kept the pressure on down the stretch and pulled out the victory.
Mike Dunleavy led the Pacers with 20 points on seven-of-12 shooting and a perfect two-for-two from three point range in 21 minutes of action.
Danny Granger started in the front court and finished with 11 points and eight boards. Jeff Foster came off of the bench to net a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Travis Diener's debut as a Pacer resulted in 3 points in 14 minutes of action.
David West paced the visiting Hornets with 17 points and four boards. Former Pacer, Peja Stojakovic had seven points in his return to Conseco.
Indiana will see the Seatle Supersonics on Saturday at 7pm.
The regular season gets underway Halloween night, October 31st when Washington heads to Conseco Fieldhouse.
