(UNDATED) - Saturday’s battle for the old oaken bucket may become a battle for a postseason bowl game when the Purdue Boilermakers and the Indiana Hoosiers square off at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
The Hoosiers are 6-and-5 and are bowl eligible for the first time since 1994. The Boilers are 7-and-4 and would have easily qualified for the tenth bowl bid in Joe Tiller's eleven seasons in West Lafayette if this were a normal season.
Ten of the eleven big ten schools are bowl eligible and the conference is locked into just seven bowl games. That means that seven wins will probably be necessary to play a 13th game and a head-to-head loss could cost the Boilermakers a bid should a decision about a particular bowl come down to IU or Purdue.
