(UNDATED) - The annual battle for the old oaken bucket could become a post-thanksgiving tradition beginning in 2009.
The Big Ten will move to a 13-week schedule the season after next, extending the season to the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Since the NCAA adopted a twelve-game schedule in 2006, several coaches in the Big Ten have lobbied for a bye week.
The adoption of the 13-week schedule will allow teams to have that week off during the 12-game regular season.
