(TEMPE, AZ) - The Indiana University football team plays their first bowl game in 14 years early this evening as they face the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Insight Bowl at Tempe, Arizona.
The Hoosiers are 7-and-5 and are playing in the postseason for the first time since the end of the 1993 season, when they lost to Virginia Tech 45-20 in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana.
IU is going for its first bowl win since knocking off Baylor 24-0 in the Copper Bowl on New Year's Eve 1991. The Copper Bowl is now the Insight Bowl.
The Cowboys are 6-and-6 and are in a bowl game for the fifth time in the last six seasons. They wrapped up the regular season by losing three of their last four games, including a 49-17 pounding by Oklahoma in the finale.
Tonight's game will mark the second time that the Hoosiers and the Cowboys have met on the gridiron. The two teams fought to a 7-7 tie in 1930 in Bloomington.
