(LAWRENCE COUNTY) - It was an up and down weekend in area basketball as the Mitchell Bluejackets put 2 in the win column this weekend and the BNL boys basketball team continued their losing streak.

On Friday, the Mitchell boys basketball team dominated the game, beating Eastern Greene 53-28. Zak Kern lead the charge with 19 points with Evan Sanders and Austin Claudell putting in 8 a piece.

On Saturday, the Mitchell boys worked through a tighter matchup and defeated White River Valley 48-38. Austin Claudell led with 13 points for the Bluejackets.

In BNL boys action, the BNL Stars took a big dive as they were bested by Bloomington South 72-49 on Friday night. The Stars trailed the entire game and were bested by South's top scorer, who chipped in 20 points.

Saturday night was no better for the Stars, seeing Salem come back from behind to take the Stars to a 65-60 defeat. The BNL boys are now 0-3 on the season, looking for their first win when they host Columbus East this Friday night.

However, the Lady Stars continued their winning streak on Saturday afternoon by taking the New Albany Bulldogs 70-54. Despite a slow start the Lady Stars were lead by Tabby Terrell who chipped in 20 points and dominated the hardwood with 11 rebounds, 9 steals, 3 blocks and 4 assists.
