(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Rumors continue to swirl around the Purdue football program about a successor to current Head Coach Joe Tiller.
Earlier in the week, reports out of Wisconsin said that Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst would join the Boilers as an assistant and eventually succeed Tiller as head coach.
The Wisconsin State Journal reported on Wednesday that Chryst had reservations about the plan and withdrew his name from consideration.
This morning, the Lafayette Journal and Courier reports that the focus has shifted on Eastern Kentucky Head Coach Danny Hope. Hope was Tiller's offensive line coach at Purdue from 1997 through 2001, following Tiller to West Lafayette after one season at Wyoming. He has been at Eastern Kentucky for the past five seasons, compiling a 35-and-22 record with the Colonels.
The school shot down a report that a news conference has been scheduled for Friday to announce Hope's hiring with Purdue's SID for football Tom Schott telling the Journal and Courier that they have not announce plans for a news conference.
