(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The girls high school basketball season comes to an end Saturday when the four class champions are determined at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The morning session gets underway with the Class A game between Fort Wayne cantErbury and University. It is the first trip to the state finals in girls basketball for both schools. It is University's first championship game in any sport.
The 2A game features unbeaten Oak Hill taking on two-time defending champion Heritage Christian. Heritage Christian was ranked number one in the final coaches' poll while Oak Hill was number two.
The evening session begins with the 3A game between Plymouth and Indianapolis Chatard. Both schools are looking for their first state championships in girls basketball. Plymouth was a finalist in 2001 while this is Chatard's first trip to the title game.
The 4A contest pits defending champion South Bend Washington and Carmel. This is Washington's third-straight trip to the championship game. They lost to Castle in 2006 before defeating Columbus East last season. Carmel is in the title game for the first time in 13 years. The Greyhounds lost to Huntington North in the 1995 championship game.
