(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indy Racing League announced Wednesday that there is a new title sponsor for the league’s developmental series.
Bridgestone Firestone has signed on to sponsor what was known as the Indy Pro Series. The series will now be known as Firestone Indy Lights.
Bridgestone Firestone will also become the title sponsor for the 100-mile Indy Lights race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Carb Day, which will now be known as the Firestone Freedom 100.
The Indy Lights name was around from 1991 to 2001 as a developmental series for cart - the predecessor of the Champ Car World Series. Champ Car was absorbed into the Indy Racing League last month.
