(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts are trying to sign free agent defensive end Tyler Brayton according to a published report.
The Indianapolis Star reports in Tuesday's editions that Brayton visited the Colts on Monday after meeting with the Carolina Panthers over the weekend.
Brayton is a five-year veteran out of Colorado who was taken by the Oakland Raiders at the end of the first round in the 2003 NFL Draft. He has spent his entire pro career with the Raiders.
Brayton would probably back up Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis if he signs with Indianapolis. He could be a starter with the Colts depending on how Freeney recovers from the foot injury that sidelined him for the final seven games of the 2007 season.
He has played in 79 regular-season games with Oakland, 49 as a starter.
