(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Purdue’s season came to an end as the Boilermakers were overwhelmed by top-seeded Tennessee 78-52 in the second round of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.
Candice Parker led the Lady Vols with 24 points with Alexis Hornbuckle adding 14. Freshman Keshia Mosley led Purdue with 14 points as the Boilers trailed by as many as 33 points.
Tennessee improved its record in first and second-round NCAA tournament games to 42-and-0 as the Lady Vols are in the Sweet-16 for the 27th-consecutive year.
Tennessee Coach Pat Summitt reached a milestone as last night's win was her 100th in NCAA tournament play.
Purdue finishes the season at 19-and-15. The Lady Vols will face Notre Dame in Sunday's regional semifinal in Oklahoma City.
