(UNDATED) - High School Basketball took center-stage Saturday with exciting Semi-State action.
In class 1A, Triton topped Lafayette Central Catholic 52-51 on a late put-back by Colton Keel with 8.3 seconds remaining in the game. Triton will compete next Saturday for the State Championship against Indianapolis Lutheran, after they defeated Borden by a score of 59-41 behind 17 points from Ryan Maddigan.
In class 2A, Fort Wayne Luers and Winchester advance to the championship game behind great individual performances from DeShaun Thomas and Tyler Koch respectively. Thomas scored 35 points and pulled down 16 boards as Luers topped Westview 83-70, and Koch scored a game-high 31 points as Winchester downed Evansville Mater Dei 67-60.
In class 3A, Washington big-man Tyler Zeller scored 30 of his 38 points in the second half as the Hatchets topped Batesville 73-69. In the other 3A game, Harding will be playing for a state championship for the fourth time in school history as they defeated Plymouth 68-57.
In class 4A, the Marion Giants advance to the championship game after defeating South Bend Riley 64-52 behind 28 points from Julius Mays. The Giants advance to the 4A title game to face Brownsburg after they defeated previously unbeaten New Albany 51-41. Brownsburg was led by Gordon Hayward who scored a team-high 24 points.
