(ST. PETERSBURG, FL) - The IndyCar series is in St. Petersburg for Sunday’s race through the city’s streets.
Practice took place on Friday, with qualifying set to take place this morning. Through the first two practice sessions, Helio Castroneves recorded the fastest time, followed by Tony Kanaan, Hideki Mutoh, Justin Wilson, and will power to round out the top five.
It is the first street course event of the season and will introduce the series' enhanced "knockout" qualifying procedure for road and street courses this season.
The entries will be separated into two groups for a 20-minute qualifying session with the top six in each group advancing to round two. Another 15-minute session will reduce the twelve remaining cars to six, with those six competing in a ten-minute session to determine the pole winner.
