(ST. PETERSBURG, FL) - The Indy Grand Prix of St. Petersburg takes place Sunday afternoon.
The new knockout style of qualifications took center stage Saturday, with Tony Kanaan earning the pole. Kanaan was the last man standing through three rounds of qualifications to win the coveted Peak Motor Oil pole award.
Two former champ car drivers qualified in the top five Saturday, including Will Power who will join Kanaan in row one
Justin Wilson and Helio Castroneves are in row two, followed by Ryan Briscoe and Ryan Hunter-Reay to round out the first three rows.
Other notables include points leader Scott Dixon who qualified 13th, and Danica Patrick who will start 19th.
