(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Washington High School center Tyler Zeller is Indiana’s Mister Basketball for 2008.
The seven footer who will play collegiately for the North Carolina Tar Heels received 257 of the 345 votes cast, easily outdistancing Plymouth's Randy Davis who finished second with 22 votes.
Zeller scored 43 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the hatchets' 84-60 win over Harding in the Class 3A championship game last month. He led the state in scoring at 33.1 points per game and upped that output to 36 points per game during the IHSAA tournament.
Zeller's brother Luke, who currently plays at Notre Dame, won Mister Basketball honors in 2005.
The Zellers are the third set of brothers to be named Mister Basketball. Tom and Dick Van Arsdale of Indianapolis Manual shared the honor in 1961. Carmel's Billy Shepherd was Mister Basketball in 1968 and his brother David won the award in 1970.
