(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana fever open the WNBA regular season Saturday night when they welcome the Washington Mystics to Conseco Fieldhouse.
The Fever will open the season without five-time all-star forward Tamika Catchings in the lineup. Catchings continues to recover from an achilles tendon injury suffered in last season's eastern conference finals against Detroit.
New Fever Coach Lin Dunn hopes former Purdue star Katie Douglas can take up some of the slack. The Indianapolis native joins the Fever following an offseason trade with the Connecticut Sun.
Douglas is back from Spain and will participate in her first practice with the fever today. Centers Ebony Hoffman and Tammy Sutton-Brown are expected to arrive from Turkey on Saturday. All three were victorious in championship games in their European leagues on Wednesday.
