(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Time is of the essence for the race teams competing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. For the second day in a row, practice was completely washed out by rain.
Teams will be scrambling for practice time tomorrow as time trials begin on Saturday. Marco Andretti turned in the fastest lap of the month on Tuesday at 226.599, but the 2006 rookie of the year admitted getting what he called a "major tow" during the hot lap.
Andretti's Andretti-Green Racing teammate Tony Kanaan and Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon turned in laps over 225 miles per hour.
The loss of practice time will hurt teams outside of AGR, Ganassi and Team Penske, who accounted for the top six places on Tuesday's speed chart.
Only the top eleven positions on the grid will be set on pole day Saturday.
