(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Practice never did get underway Wednesday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Several teams were getting ready to go out for the start of practice at noon eastern time, but showers hit before the track opened. Another round of rain prompted officials to call off practice at 3:15.
Two full days of practice remain before Saturday's run for the pole, but more rain is forecast for today, hampering those teams who did not find speed on Tuesday's first day of open practice.
Marco Andretti turned in the fastest lap of the month on Tuesday at 226.599, but the 2006 rookie of the year admitted getting what he called a "major tow" during the hot lap.
Andretti's Andretti-Green Racing teammate Tony Kanaan and Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon turned in laps over 225 miles per hour.
The loss of practice time will hurt teams outside of AGR, Ganassi and Team Penske, who accounted for the top six places on Tuesday's speed chart.
